Two Factor Authentication adds an extra layer of security to your WhatDigit account. In addition to your password, you will need a verification code from an authenticator app. This guide explains how to enable and configure 2FA for enhanced account protection.

1. Open Your Account Settings

Log in to your WhatDigit account.
From the left sidebar, open the Settings section.
Choose the 2FA Authentication tab.

This page contains the tools required to activate Two Factor Authentication.

2. Install an Authenticator App

To use 2FA, you need an authentication app on your mobile device.
You may use any trusted app such as:

Google Authenticator
Microsoft Authenticator
Authy
LastPass Authenticator

Install one of these apps before proceeding.

3. Scan the QR Code

On the 2FA settings page, you will see a QR code.
Open your authenticator app and use the Scan QR option to capture the code.

This will automatically add your WhatDigit account to the app and generate a unique six digit code.

If you cannot scan the code, you may enter the Secret Key shown below the QR code manually.

4. Enter the Verification Code

After scanning the QR code, your authenticator app will display a six digit code that refreshes every few seconds.

Enter the current code in the verification field on the WhatDigit 2FA page.
Click Enable to complete the activation.

5. 2FA Is Now Enabled

Once enabled, you will need to enter a verification code every time you log in.
This protects your account even if your password is compromised.

Your login process will now include:

Step one: Email and password
Step two: Six digit 2FA code

This makes unauthorized access extremely difficult.

6. Backup and Recovery

Save your Secret Key in a secure location.
If you lose your phone or uninstall your authenticator app, this key will allow you to recover your 2FA access.

Without the key, you may need to contact support to deactivate 2FA manually.

7. Disable 2FA (Optional)

If you want to disable Two Factor Authentication, return to the 2FA settings page.
Select Disable and confirm your choice.

Disabling 2FA is not recommended unless absolutely necessary.

8. Recommended Security Practices

Use a strong password along with 2FA.
Never share your 2FA codes with anyone.
Avoid storing your Secret Key in unprotected locations.
Enable 2FA on all accounts connected to payments or sensitive data.
